When Julio (Manrique) commissioned me to create a piece for the (new) Teatre Lliure, the first question I asked myself was to what extent it was truly a "free" commission. I decided not to ask too many questions, to move forward as if this were possible, but then more and more questions started to arise that blocked my own path: questions about the meaning of art, the role of theater, or its future in a world that is turning upside down.
Beyond having the permission (or the luck) to be free as a creator, it seemed relevant to me to explore what it means to be free today.
Where are the limits, and who sets them? What can and can't be done?
The short film *La Plaça* is, ultimately, a collection of unresolved questions surrounding the deep changes that will increasingly take center stage in public and artistic conversation, and that, therefore, we will all have to discuss together.
In the end, these are doubts about the infinite and ever-evolving idea of freedom.

**NOTE:** *La Plaça* has been produced using various cutting-edge techniques that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) as a foundation, combined with other computer-generated imagery (CGI) tools. The final authorship of the images, as well as some of the ethical and even legal decisions made during the process, have a blurred component with the ultimate aim of fostering debate.
