Salvador Sunyer began coursing humanities at Pompeu Fabra University, but then shifted degrees and graduated from ESCAC (Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia). From 2012 to 2021, he was a partner in the production company Nanouk Films (Barcelona), where he served as executive producer and director. Since then, some of the films he has co-produced have been recognized at festivals such as Sundance, San Sebastian, and Locarno.

His latest productions, Ojos Negros and El Niño de Fuego, both won awards at the Málaga and Seminci festivals, respectively.

As a screenwriter and filmmaker, in 2014 he directed the feature documentary "Bugarach”, which was awarded the FIPRESCI at the St Petersburg festival (2014) and was nominated for best documentary film at the Gaudí awards 2015. It was also selected at the Hot Docs Toronto, Prix Europa Berlin or IDFA Amsterdam festivals.

His passion for the world of performing arts has led him to work alongside international artists such as Álex Rigola (Director of the Venice Biennale), the French company Baró d'Evel, and the Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

In his desire to combine the performing and cinematographic arts, he created and still directs the biannual initiative “The One Project”, showcasing in 2015 the first piece of said project titled The Missing Part (together with Baró d'Evel Cirk Cie), which was selected at the festivals of Taiwan, Paris Courts Devant, and won the first prize at the Choreoscope festival while also earning a special mention at the FEC festival. In 2019, he released the film "Restos de Cosas", with object artist Xavier Bobés, and the voice of José Sacristán, premiering simultaneously at the D'A and Abycine festivals. The One project has been exhibited in museums such as the Centro Arts Santa Mónica and CaixaForum.

His work in the advertising and design fields has earned him the following awards: "The Song of The Goat" he won his first Laus de Oro 2016 award (ADG-FAD) and the following year, the piece "The Pleasure Island", created on the occasion of the 25th edition of the Temporada Alta Festival, won the Grand Laus 2017 award (ADG-FAD) and the German Design Award in the audiovisual category.

He has also co-directed the 2017 and 2019 advertising campaigns for the Centro de Arte Dramático Nacional de Madrid, together with designer Javier Jaén, obtaining the 2018 Silver LAUS (ADG-FAD).

In the same year, he premiered “L’Incendi", the short film winner of the Gold Laus 2018 (ADG-FAD) and the Grand Laus 2018 (ADG-FAD), which made him the first person in the history of these awards who won the Grand Laus for two consecutive years.

In 2018 he wrote and directed "La Voz de España", an ironic short film regarding freedom of expression in Spain and starring the singer Amaia Romero (OT), and in 2019 he released "L'Origen”, a free audiovisual commission by plastic artist Miquel Barceló.

As of 2022, he has decided to devote himself exclusively to film directing, premiering his first self-fictional short film, "Alopècia Androgènica", in Tampere (Finland) and D'A (Barcelona).

Also this year, he has begun creating series and writing his first fiction feature film.

He has also made his music video directorial debut with “Ay Mamá”, a commission from Rigoberta Bandini.

In the field of teaching, he has been a professor of the Degree and Master in Documentary at ESCAC (Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia), of the Master in Design and Audiovisual Creativity at ELISAVA, (University School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona), of audiovisual creation at EINA (University Center of Art and Design of Barcelona), and at UIC (International University of Catalonia).
